Overview

The Association Accountant Manager is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements for the Homeowner Association and Condo Association.  Responsibilities include preparing a comprehensive financial statement write-up, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, account, and variance analysis, and preparing all balance sheet supporting schedules.

 

The Association Accountant also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group.  He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally, as well as, with our external customers.

Responsibilities

 

    • Be able to lead/coach a team of Sr. accountants to achieve the goals of accurate and timely financial statements.
    • In charge of training new and current employees.
    • Completion of month end financial reporting packages for assigned associations based on Castle’s internal monthly schedule. 
    • Review direct reports financials before submitting to Boards.
    • Provide solutions to Director of Financial Reporting (“Director”) for escalated issues relating to departmental functions.
    • Develop expertise in department functions and software, including new software implementation. 
    • Work with Director on meeting Company goals and implementing new initiatives within established deadlines.
    • Be available for occasional on-site visits to associations to resolve issues with financial reporting package.
    • Develop working relationships with on-site teams, and working knowledge of the site to ensure that any material reporting issues are corrected before financials are released to the board.
    • Act as a liaison to the Treasurer, and the Board, for financial statements and accounting issues, and attend meetings as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance required.   
  • Master's degree in accounting and/or finance preferred.  
  • CPA license preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of the general ledger accounts is a must 
  • Experience with accounting software a plus. 

 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills creating effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.  
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities.   
  • Intermediate command of computer hardware/software is required; specifically, proficient in the knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  
  • Leadership and management skills preferred.  
  • Fluent in the English language is required 
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
