Overview

The Roads Crew Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the roads maintenance team within the Property Owners Association (POA). This role ensures the safety, maintenance, and improvement of all roadways, signage, drainage systems, and related infrastructure within the community. The Supervisor manages road crew staff, coordinates work schedules, enforces safety and traffic compliance, and ensures that all roadwork is completed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. 

The Roads Crew Supervisor provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group.  He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service. 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the roads crew, including repairs, resurfacing, signage, drainage maintenance, and traffic control measures. 
  • Plan, assign, and review work to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance projects. 
  •  Conduct routine inspections of roads and infrastructure to identify issues and prioritize repairs. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and POA policies. 
  • Respond to emergency road situations, including storm damage, flooding, or other hazards. 
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for major repairs or paving projects. 
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance. 
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to crew members. 
  • Assist in budget planning, inventory control, and resource allocation. 
  • Act as a liaison between the Roads Department and POA management, property owners, and other departments. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Supervise, lead, and manage the maintenance and roads crews, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Oversee all POA maintenance activities including roads, grounds, buildings, and facilities. 
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and standards for effective operations. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction or civil maintenance preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in road construction or maintenance, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role. 
  • Strong knowledge of road maintenance equipment, materials, and safety practices. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, technical manuals, and safety documentation. 
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience working within an HOA/POA or municipal environment is a plus. 

 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Strong knowledge of construction, road repair, facility operations, and grounds maintenance. 
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, cost control, and project management. 
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.  
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Intermediate command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
