Overview

The Golf Course Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks to maintain and enhance the golf course and its surrounding landscape. This position plays a vital role in ensuring optimal playing conditions and a visually appealing environment for members and guests. The Maintenance Technician works under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent and supports all aspects of daily course upkeep. 

The Golf Course Maintenance Technician provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service. 

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily maintenance tasks including mowing greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using a variety of turf equipment. 
  • Assists in bunker maintenance including raking, edging, and sand replenishment. 
  • Participates in landscaping tasks such as trimming, pruning, mulching, and weeding. 
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs course features including tee markers, signage, trash containers, and ball washers. 
  • Helps with sod installation, aerification, overseeding, and topdressing projects. 
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing irrigation systems under guidance. 
  • Operates utility vehicles, mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and effectively. 
  • Ensures all assigned equipment is cleaned, fueled, and properly stored after use. 
  • Identifies and reports course conditions such as turf damage, pest issues, or equipment malfunctions. 
  • Follows all safety guidelines and protocols during maintenance activities. 
  • Participates in seasonal tasks including snow removal, leaf cleanup, and storm debris clearing as required. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of turf care, landscaping, or groundskeeping preferred. 
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and tools safely and effectively.

  • Reliable work ethic and commitment to safety and quality. 

 

Education and Experience 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Prior experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping preferred but not required. 
  • On-the-job training provided. 

 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining course aesthetics. 
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to take instruction from supervisors. 
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks efficiently.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.   
  • Ability to: 
  • work in an upright standing position for long periods of time

  • Walk and climb stairs 
  • Extensive use of fingers for typing and visual use of the computer monitor.  
  • Handle, grasp, feel objects and equipment.  
  • Reach with hands and arms.  
  • Must be able to operate motorized equipment and hand tools safely. 
  • Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms.  
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights above ground level. 
  • Visual ability correctable to 20/20. 
  • Ability to stoop and bend. 
  • Early morning, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on course schedule.
